Today as regime forces continue their sustained assault on besieged Aleppo, a group of residents gathered in the Mayyasar section of eastern Aleppo to take the short walk to cross into regime territory. It is rumoured that as many as 20,000 of the trapped 300,000 residents have gone over to regime territory as their homes have been destroyed and there is no food security. As the group gathered at approximately 9:45am they were hit by a regime airstrike. The death toll amounted to 26 killed and 45 injured. The dead were brought to a nearby area as the injured were ferried away for fear of a secondary attack. It is common for regime forces to launch aerial attacks on gatherings, although the reason for such an attack as they have been demanding residents leave rebel held territory is not clear.
