This afternoon regime forces and it’s allies made another attempt to seize control of the Aziza neighborhood in eastern Aleppo. However rebel defenses in the extremely strategic territory seemed to be holding under the barrage of barrel bombs and mortar fire attacks.
Regime forces are attempting to capture the neighborhood so as to further section off rebel controlled territory in half. This would mean that instead of having two thirds of their total land, as they lost one third last week, they would have two parts of one third each.
An Iranian officer and a foreign fighter were reported by rebel fighters to have been captured today in the hotly contested neighborhood.
In other news, rebel forces have been forced out of the Tariq Al Bab region of the city. This is the first time in four years regime forces have entered that area of the city.
